…in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined. Isaiah 9:1-2
It is a terrible thing to live in darkness. And many live in dark places: poverty, guilt, despair, grief, brokenness.
With the birth of Jesus, light has shined into the world. The shepherds experienced the glory of the Lord shining around them. The wise men followed a star that lighted their way to the child Jesus.
We too can experience the light of Christ. “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6
When we believe in Christ, God the Father delivers us from the domain of darkness and transfers us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13
