But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Micah 5:2
God did not use Jerusalem, he did not use Rome or any of the other great centres of the day. He chose a small city, or village by our reckoning, from which Israel’s great King would come.
God does not necessarily use the great, the wise, the wealthy, the powerful in order to reveal and execute his purposes.
He uses the still small voice, the simple, the foolish, the weak, the humble through which to display his power and glory.
He used Bethlehem, a stable, a manger and swaddling cloths.
