Advent 2014 – Christmas Eve

Come let us worship the King

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11

John the Baptist leapt for joy in his mother’s womb. Luke 1:41-44
The shepherds glorified and praised God. Luke 2:20
The wise men fell down and worshipped him. Matthew 2:11
Simeon praised God for his salvation. Luke 2:25-32
Anna gave thanks to God for the redemption of Jerusalem. Luke 2:36-38
The disciples worshipped him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’ Matthew 14:33
The man with the unclean spirit fell to his knees before him. Mark 5:6
The man healed of blindness said, ‘Lord, I believe,’ and he worshipped him. John 9:38
After his resurrection, the two Marys came, took hold of his feet and worshipped him. Matthew 28:9
And the eleven disciples worshipped him. Matthew 28:17
All of God’s angels worship him. Hebrews 1:6
And the inhabitants of heaven fell down and worshipped him. Revelation 4:9-11, 5:8-14

Come, let us worship the new-born King; the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world; the risen and glorified Christ.

I thank those who have read and liked my Advent 2014 posts. I appreciate your visits.

My purpose in writing them has primarily been for my children and grandchildren. Rather than filling an Advent Calendar with chocolates, gifts, etc, I wanted them to think biblically in the days leading up to Christmas; to make Christmas about Christ.

I pray that, through the reading of God’s word, you have been encouraged to do the same and been blessed by it. I know I have been.

God bless you as you worship our great King, Jesus Christ, this Christmas season and as you seek to serve him through 2015 and beyond.

Aaron’s blessing—Numbers 6:22-27

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them:
—The Lord bless you and keep you;
—the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
—the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
“So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”
