Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor’s headquarters, and they gathered the whole battalion before him. And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” Matthew 27:27-29
CHRIST IS KING!
The coronation of Jesus Christ, King of the Jews:
subjects paying homage to the King…
…you can’t get more regal than that.
In his beautiful hymn ‘When I Survey the Wondrous Cross’, Isaac Watts wrote:
See from his head, his hands, his feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Regardless of the motives of those who were present or what the regalia were made from, the coronation of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, is ever imprinted into the hearts and minds of his subjects.
